"I drove 2 hours to the storage in order to pick up my things only to learn that all of the elevators were down. I then had to drive 2 hours back home. If you need to store large items, please use another company. Elevators being down without notice is obviously a huge problem here.
I contacted life storage about the issue and asked that they compensate me for the gas at least and for almost a month now have been told that the area manager will be in contact with me to discuss the issue, that no one can assist me with this except the area manager who doesn't feel the news to ever come to work or communicate with customers. I called back today and because i didn't know the exact munger of days that I've been waiting for some form of communication from the area manager the employee decided that i needed a lecture in that instead of dealing with the actual issue (that the office failed to communicate with customers that there would be no ability to move things to or from their units for a number of days due to the elevator being down and that their area manager has no customer service capabilities)."

"We have been renting two 10x30 spaces at Life Storage for about 6 months now. The prices have gone up on both spaces, one going up by around $20. Our contract apparently allows such changes.
This past month is the first time we've seen all four bay doors working. Usually, one or more are broken.
When we first signed up, we dealt with an extremely nice manager. Later, someone else took over. We don't see him much. Today, during the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve, the facility is closed, with signs on the bay doors stating that the key pads, doors, and elevators don't work. No reason or emergency phone number was given. My husband, who is off work during this time, was planning to consolidate boxes to get us down to one storage space. If the place doesn't open soon, he'll have to go after work each day. Assuming they are open."

"I've had more complications with this facility than had good experiences. If you can get a hold of someone, they are typically very friendly. That's all of the positive feedback I can give.
You can never guarantee that the loading dock doors will work. It usually seems there are at least 1-2 (out of 4) broken at any given time, even during busy holidays when they really need to be working.
The office seems to be abandoned. There is never anyone in the office during office hours, no one answers the office number, and no one ever answers the "emergency" number that is listed on the bay doors. IF anyone responds, it will be the next day.
If you need to have your issues resolved immediately - this is not the facility for you. If you don't mind having to leave voicemails and waiting for someone to respond in a few days, then this might work."

"Friendly and helpful staff. Reserved 1 unit and visited office to get set up and it was quick. When I realized I needed another unit, I reserved and accessed 2nd unit through online process and that was simple and quick as well. Units were clean. Only issue during my time using their facilities was one of the loading bay doors was out of service for a couple of weeks and impacted access especially when "busy". But it looked like the door was broken because someone backed into it."

"I’ve had my stuff stored here for over two years, starting back when they were Cube Smart. The new staff is friendly enough, however the last few times I’ve been here the loading bay doors have been broken thereby limiting access to your vehicle. Then as of today there were only two carts for use when there were almost a dozen available back in the Cube Smart days. It’s not fun renting a uhaul for a few hours then spending the majority of the time waiting for one of the two carts. I’m glad to be moving my stuff out of here."

"Initially I was looking for a storage place a bit closer to my apartment in Arlington. The Chantilly location is about 35 to 40 minutes away. But the prices were much more affordable, so I went to check it out. Now I can honestly say that if I found one closer for less, I would still stay at the Chantilly location. This location is so well run, and I found that each person there cared enough to make my experience great. A special kudos to Shahana, the location manager, for she took the time to listen to my exact needs. As a result, I got the exact type of storage unit I needed. These days it is rare to find someone who is both transactional (knows the facts, the details) and relationship building (cares about the customer's needs). Shahana is defintitely that rare person, and simply a great representative of the company. I have been to other storage units that were about this price, but in those places cheaper meant that one got what is expected out of a cheaper place. Not here in Chantilly. I cannot think of anything they need to change there, as it is clean, and very professionally run. Shanaha answered questions I had before I even knew to ask them! And her patience was impressive. "Newish storage units (was recently acquired from CubeSmart) on the cheaper side. Out of the four loading bays, at least one is usually open. My biggest problem is with the elevators. In less than 5 seconds the robotic voice comes on saying "Doors closing" and repeats this again and again. This isn't enough time to get the trolley into the elevator. If the doors are open longer than 30 seconds an alarm goes off and over a minute the entire system shuts down. Fix the elevator system and this will be a 5 star facility."
