"If I could give 0 stars I would. I am a single mother, living pay check to pay check -- an amazing opportunity came my way for an all expenses paid trip to Mexico. While overseas, I had no access to email, the internet or my phone (For the other Moms here I bet you could agree - Whew, that must have been nice!) But upon returning I found that Life Storage charged me a $20 late fee as my auto-payment had bounced while overseas. Having held a storage account here since 2015 , I assumed that Life Storage would waive the fee as a courtesy for the unforeseen circumstances. As you can imagine - that did not happen. I went back and forth with the Manager Nani -- (over $20 mind you) that she would not waive the fee due to having reached out to me and I did not return their calls or email correspondence. Oh - but did Nani care I had no access to my phone, email or a computer to make a payment online? NOPE! Life Storage is quite literally a joke, and their customer service is an even bigger one. Go store your things somewhere else if you can help it. After the pandemic we have been living through - I have seen so much grace extended to humans, and I am always happy to assist someone in my job who may have been down on their luck and need to be thrown a little help. The absolute absence of care or concern for your patrons is laughable Life Storage, over $20 dollars mind you! Not $200 - TWENTY! That $20 dollars means something to me when I have daycare, groceries, bills and rent to pay and as I expressed before I live paycheck to paycheck and my storage unit is vital to me as I do not have a garage or place to store these items in my apartment. "TLDR: This facility will raise your rent unexpectedly the first 2-3 months after you move in and not respond to your calls or emails and they arbitrarily enforce whatever rules when they want to deflect from their unprofessionalism and failing equipment.
Had an incident with their employee Nani.
In the year plus I've rented here I have rarely seen and never had any interactions with any employee at this facility.
I have never had any interaction with any other tenant.
My rent has been paid on time every month.
For at least the last 6 months the front gate to this facility has been broken and has led to problems of entry and exit for all renters.
**The company still to this day has not fixed it.
Upon entering an already open gate with no cars entering before me (and not knowing if it was stuck open as tends to happen) I drive through and employee Nani followed me down to my unit and explained to me that I was in violation of my rental agreement by entering an open gate without entering my code.
With the gate being broken I was curious how I was violating any rules and when I tried to get more information Nani became dismissive and walked away.
The following day as I was entering the facility, a car was entering before me and after they entered the gate they slammed on their brakes and got out of their vehicle. It was the employee Nani.
They stated that they were not going to move until I punched in my code but I explained to them that I wasn't going to punch my code in until they moved as they were blocking me purposely. I sat until they said whatever they had to say and moved. Very confrontational for no reason.
Upon leaving I stopped by the front office to address this issue as stopping your car in front of the gate and demanding your customers follow your orders is not professional or safe.
Speaking with Nani in the office I could tell they weren't interested in what I had to say so I left.
Upon returning to my unit later in the day they placed a letter on my lock that was once again deflecting from their unprofessionalism as well as threatening to revoke my rental agreement.
Fair enough.
**Upon leaving I drive up to the gate to leave and reflect on the actions of the last two days when I punch in my code to leave and........
THE GATE DOESN'T WORK.
Before you threaten your tenants with eviction for breaking rules please fix your gate that is causing the problems.
If you fixed your gate people would have no problem punching in their codes. When you neglect your equipment the issue is with you and not your renters.
I imagine all the other renters who received rent increases would like to see that money fix the gate so they don't have to deal with this same situation."

"The customer service is alright and facility is kept clean and mostly maintenanced (the code-lock on the door to my building takes some extra work to get closed). However, my biggest gripe is that after 6 months they jacked the price up on my unit by 32%. At least apartments give you a year lease where the price stays the same. They really need to either put a % cap allowed to be raised per year or call out that the price was introductory and what the real price would be 6 months in. The answer I got back was "Price usually goes up in the summer time" and of course, when asked, the price wouldn't go back down in the winter (I knew this, but had to ask anyways). He said it most likely wouldn't go up again in the next year, but we'll see about that. Pretty unsatisfactory answer, though I doubt the person I was talking to had any control or any real answers as to why the price would go up so significantly."

She was injured at the time but didn't hesitate to walk us around and still provide friendly helpful service.
