Today that changed when I discovered rat feces covering my unit, including on top of and inside sealed cardboard boxes and in hanging suits and coats. In addition, a man was passed out in the hallway outside my unit, which is on the top floor and ostensibly only accessible with a security code. I am not typically a fan of leaving negative reviews but I have serious concerns for the health and safety of other renters and do not know a better way to share this information."

"Had a small unit here for over a year. Foolishly I mentioned that I would be out of the country to the guy at the counter and now upon my return…I have been robbed!!! No the lock was not cut…someone must have had a master to open it. Jewelry, computer, boots, etc. All gone!!! Person opened and searched every single container possible!! Totally ransacked. Staff at location not helpful whatsoever!!!
My advice…rent elsewhere and get your own (2) different type of locks. People are messed up!!!"

"I want to preface this by saying I had a 13-year relationship with Life Storage in West Palm Beach, and never had anything but positive and professional experiences... which is what made this so shocking during our supposed check-in yesterday.
We are a military family, and I had verified that there is a military rate offered at this location via phone before we made our reservation. We book online, there's a free month included, which it seems like is a standing offer at LS, we get a quote, it's in budget, easy day, right?
Show up to the office. We're told we need to pay for their $14/mo insurance to get the unit. I explain we have homeowners insurance that covers our unit, and am asked to produce my detailed policy... like that's something a normal person carries with them. We're told that we cannot rent the unit unless we sign a contract with their insurance, so I ask why this wouldn't have been in the quote I was provided, if it's not optional? I'm told they "wait until you come to the office to explain insurance"... so that's bait and switch #1.
Then we are asked to sign all the documentation WITHOUT being able to see the confirmed rates, I'm told "we can see them at the end"...weird, but ok. See that the rate we signed for doesn't reflect the military rate. Fast-forward 30+ minutes on the phone and they express that they can't/won't honor the free month intro deal and the military rate at the same time. I asked why this wasn't expressed to me when I called the location, they weren't able to produce a justification. Bait and switch #2. I ask to speak to the senior manager, who was at that time on the phone with the associate helping us, she refuses to speak with me directly. Cool.
I'm not trying to hang this all on the associate, she was trying, but there was so much underhanded pricing, and general unwillingness to help find a resolution, we ended up packing all of our things back into the car and leaving. We're not crazy or unreasonable people, but to have a monthly rate increase 25% above a confirmed reservation rate is shady and underhanded, and can make a huge impact financially if you're planning to keep your items long-term in storage. We didn't feel comfortable moving forward. There were so many ways this could have been handled differently, but I'd strongly caution anyone before moving forward on a unit at this location."
