"I rented a unit at this facility about 6 or 7 months ago. Remember, this is a "climate controlled" facility so I should not experience fuzzy MOLD all over my leather sofa/loveseat and ottoman. The furniture was in the unit about 6 months total. Because I was in the process of moving/selling other items in storage, I was in and out of the unit frequently and mold was never an issue. I had not been to the unit in about 3 weeks and went to get the leather furniture and move it into my new home to find that it was covered in MOLD!!!!! Want to talk about livid?! AC unit was set on 78 in the building, the location is no longer has a "manned" office so speaking with somebody at that time wasn't an option. I stopped by a few days later to begin moving my things out and into another climate controlled facility nearby. There happened to be an employee in the office helping a new customer with paperwork for a unit. I observed the employee (Elizabeth) being not-so-friendly to the elderly lady that was getting a unit (bad taste in my mouth even more so!). When Elizabeth finished with the new customer, she asked how she could help me. I began the conversation with "what are the changes of renting a climate controlled unit and stored items becoming MOLDED"? She responded with a "only a slight chance, shouldn't happen". Well, then explain this...(showing her a picture of my sofa that was covered in MOLD)! She changed her tone quickly to "well it happens. I don't know what to tell you". WRONG THING TO SAY to a customer paying you $150+ a month that found my furniture damaged! She proceeded to look up my unit # and tell me "you can file a claim with your homeowners insurance company". Wait, wait...what?! She literally repeated her "I don't know what you want me to do/I don't know what to tell you" customer service story! I did get very frustrated with her nonchalant attitude! I asked why I was paying $150 a month for a climate controlled unit when the AC was set on 78 (I mean, we do live on the Gulf Coast where humidity is high!)...she cut me off saying "80 is the industry standard". I asked for her name (as I wanted to contact somebody above her) - she literally COVERED HER NAME TAG WITH HER HAND and repeated "I don't know what to tell you except call your insurance company"!!!!!!!
I left and called the 1-800-800-3456 number that says it rings the corporate office in Buffalo, NY according to Google. Well, guess what?! A lady answered and identified herself as "Elizabeth" (this is when I finally got her name!) - I gave Elizabeth my name and said I had a storage unit in Foley, AL and I had an issue with mold I needed to address. Elizabeth said, oh I just spoke with you! It was the same woman - the 800# rang to my local facility. She seriously laughed - giggled like a child on the phone with me when I told her I wanted a number to somebody/an office above her that could help. SHE LAUGHED!!!! I told her I was glad we were on a recorded line because she needed to listen to example of poor customer service and learn from it. She laughed harder/louder! After arguing with her briefly to give me a # to call, she finally did! 1-850-433-0984...of course, NO ANSWER! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
