"DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE -- WEAK SECURITY & BURGLARIES! We used Life Storage in between moves.  We took an interior unit, as we thought it would be safer because you need a unique code to get inside. Not more than a month after moving our stuff in, our unit was broken into and they stole our TVs, a bunch of large framed artwork, and boxes of clothing.   I'm talking a truckload of stuff that would have taken several trips to load. Ok, at least they have security footage and visitor logs,so we can find the a-holes who did this, right?  NOPE.  They say the cameras didn't catch anything even though there are several cameras posted right by the entrance.  And the door to the building was conveniently "left open" that night, so the keycode logs aren't helpful.  Sounds wayyy too suspicious.  And even if it wasn't an inside job -- the fact that the security is so bad with cameras, doors and access logs not working that burglars can easily break in, take MULTIPLE LOADS of stuff around the entire complex and just stroll out without a trace is mind-boggling to me.   You've been warned -- use this place at your own risk."

"I recently rented a storage unit at Life Storage. Everything has been exceptional, except for the availability of flatbed carts or at minimum hand trucks. There are roughly 10-12 main building entrances, and only 2 flatbed carts and 2 hand trucks. 4 out of 5 visits, I have had to drive to other doors or buildings trying to find a cart. The cart that is usually in our area has the tires so worn they are blown out. The pins are missing in the handle bar, so it’s also difficult to get your load over the threshold of the door. I pointed this out to the staff last week (since it is a safety issue) and was told maintenance would fix it, but it hasn’t been done yet. The facility has a lot of renters, so half the times I’ve gone there are more than 4 people, ie more users than available carts. If there’s a moving truck there, forget it, because they’ll snag 1 or both flat bed carts. Several times there have been people waiting for a cart to free up. We have another storage unit somewhere else and there are 2 carts available at every door. It’s frustrating that I spent so much time trying to get a unit as close as possible to an entrance so that I could get in and out quickly, only to find I have to constantly hunt for a cart. That aside, Eric and Brent provide exceptional service, the facility is clean, well lit, and easy to access. I’m happy to change my rating to 5 stars once the cart issue is resolved."

"Right off the bat they were very rude, accusing my roomate and I of breaking a door. The next time I came I was told I was evicted and from that moment on I could only access my unit with an employee escort and had to leave the property before 5pm when the office closed although they stay open untill 10pm. I was treated poorly based on my appearance because I am covered in lots of tattoos."

"This morning I discovered our storage unit was broken into during the last week.  Ours is an interior unit - entered only with a code - and this section is mostly non-occupied except for 3 or 4 other units.  The thief went over the top, bent the guard bar, broke our boxes.  We had several file boxes inside - they completely emptied two of them.  Police officers suggested doing a credit lock to protect ourselves from someone using our financial information.  They left their dirty fingerprints as well as a couple boot/shoe prints and some other interesting signs. There is no insurance for stolen files - they can't be replaced.    The manager said he's not sure if the video surveillance goes back a week.  They don't really care that this happened to us and manager really didn't want to be bothered with it today.   Just know the code and cameras are a false sense of security - they don't protect you nor your storage unit.   I wish I could post photos here."

"Hi, My husband I rented a storage from life storage here in aliso viejo (Orion) . I can't believe that 2 of our storages got broken into, items stolen. All our baby stuffs that was gifted to us are all gone I'm due anytime now and this is tremendously devastating .We decided to use the storage because of space issues and we're in the middle of moving to a new place so we can have nice spacious space for our kids and our baby that's arriving any time now. I know there's a lot of people striving so hard in a  day to day basis because of the pandemic no work, no income etc . But stealing stuffs that doesn't belong to you is outrageously wrong . My husband's diamond back cover for his truck was stolen too! so if someone sells a black diamondback cover  (think twice).  All reports were already filed to life storage and police . Whoever you are what goes around comes around. I will let the karma handle you. I hope you're happy with our stuffs that you took away from me,my husband and especially my kids. "We have not had to rent a storage space in longer than we can remember so we were a little apprehensive.  However, the online process of reserving a unit was super easy first of all.  Then, on move-in day we were assisted by Regenia Hunter, and her staff, at the AV location.  They were very professional, friendly and super helpful.  There were a few nuances to actually opening the space and they were more than happy to provide assistance and to answer what may have seemed like a number of questions, without hesitation.  Regenia and her staff made this a very pleasant process overall and we would definitely recommend renting from this facility.  It is clean, almost brand new, secure and has very competitive pricing with the first month being free."

"I moved back to Orange County (Aliso Viejo) after living in the Santa Barbara area for 10 years. It was tough moving several hundred miles but Regina  at Life Storage was so helpful.  She allowed me to reserve a space ahead of my move. I was nervous about the possibility of arriving with a full truck and no storage unit, but all was well. She was even able to get me a larger space the evening before my move when I realized I had too much stuff for the space I had reserved. I moved my things into Life Storage 2 weeks ago and I'm so glad I chose this location. The spaces are clean and cool and the service has been excellent. Thank you, Regina!"

"UPDATE: The store manager Regina called and could not have been nicer. She offered us a refund and profusely apologized. While the situation was still horrific, I'm at least happy that Regina seems to be working to fix the office. RUN AWAY! TAKE THIS AS A WARNING. I am completely horrified by this company and lack of customer service. We had an extremely large move from West Hollywood to Orange County and booked a 10x10 unit to place some items in. We booked it to move into today, which ultimately didn't happen. We were literally 10 minutes away, with a giant moving truck and movers, and I called the Aliso Viejo Life Storage location on 4 Orion at 4:50pm to make sure I had the correct directions and information to get to our unit upon arrival. Not only was "Kelly" extremely unhelpful, he was just plain rude. He told us that because of construction, we could not load in our items as it was "too late" and he had "somewhere to go." There was not an ounce of remorse or helpfulness to remedy our stressful situation. His exact words were "you're out of luck, I have to go." There we were after a two hour drive from LA, stranded in the parking lot of the storage facility with a giant moving truck and three hired movers at 4:50pm, being told we couldn't load in due to "construction." The load in would have taken 30 minutes maximum. Also, because Kelly was so unhelpful, our movers are wer forced to store our items in their truck overnight, resulting in an extra $3,000 charge as they'll need to drive back to LA and then back to Orange County tomorrow, and add additional move-in time. I am still in disbelief that this actually happened. It's been two days and still no word from the company about our issue. DO NOT BOOK!"

"Such a shame I was looking forward to renting a space from this location as it was closer to my house.  I got in to the first building and understood that construction was still going on.  Their hours are incredibly inconsistent with the manager leaving earlier than posted hours causing me to not be able to access my unit.  Now they have asked everyone to move out because they had construction issues and the structure is not sound.  Their remedy was to offer me a spot in Irvine while construction was ongoing.  Not useful as that would have necessitated 4 round trips to move or a uHaul rental which they could not help me with.  I understand the challenges with construction but don't feel they were customer service focused. Giving one star since they did refund my admin fees."
